Regional Governors Will Visit Cerro Verde in the Context of PERUMIN 36
  • The delegation of authorities will be confirmed in the upcoming days.

In order to bring the country’s main regional authorities closer to the formal and modern mining industry, in the context of the 36th edition of PERUMIN, regional governors will be visiting Minera Cerro Verde, one of the major concentrates and copper cathode producers in Peru.

During their visit, guests will first listen to an induction and safety talk. Then they will learn more about copper production activities, responsible water and energy management programs, environmental management and biodiversity protection, as well as territorial development projects and work with neighboring communities.

The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers and the Organizing Committee of PERUMIN 36, in collaboration with the National Assembly of Regional Governors, have extended invitations to 26 regional governors who are pending confirmation. The names of the authorities who will be part of this delegation traveling to PERUMIN will be announced in the coming days.

“Regional authorities will have the opportunity to rediscover the sustainable and eco-efficient mining practices of Peru's largest copper producer in Arequipa, as well as initiatives for environmental conservation and community development. This offers them a chance to collaborate for the common good,” said Miguel Cardozo, president of PERUMIN 36.
