A group of people with disabilities will participate free of charge in PERUMIN 36
  • Organizers selected ten professionals and entrepreneurs from Arequipa registered with Conadis.

The Peruvian Institute of Mining Engineers will give ten people with disabilities free passes to the PERUMIN Mining Convention, to be held from September 25 to 29 at Cerro Juli Convention Center, in the city of Arequipa. This is therefore the first inclusive mining meeting in Latin America.

For this purpose, PERUMIN Mining Convention partnered with Yapaykuy, an inclusive management and recruitment platform, which made arrangements with the National Council on Disability (Conadis) of Arequipa, to donate 10 free passes to people who are registered with the organization.
According to Giannina Honorio, Executive Director of Yapaykuy, the free passes will be given to people with disabilities who are professionals or entrepreneurs since the aim of coming to the mining event is to expand their network of contacts and exchange valuable information, with a view to a potential job or business opportunity.

In the case of people with visual, hearing or verbal disabilities, they can register and make use of the Yapaykuy mobile application, which is equipped with useful functions such as a real-time sign language translator or a voice-to-text converter, which will facilitate their communication with other PERUMIN attendees.

In addition, this technological tool will allow people with disabilities to have live access to the conferences and talks they attend, while it transcribes everything that is said during the presentation, and even has the option of saving the transcripts so that they can be reviewed at any time.

In addition to the above, people with disabilities will be accompanied by a Yapaykuy inclusive leader trained in sign language interpretation, who will help them access the mobile application and will also be responsible for meeting their basic requirements and ensuring their well-being at PERUMIN.

It should be noted that of the ten people with disabilities selected to visit the mining convention, the first group will enter on Tuesday, September 26, and the other the next day.
