Ruben Arratia
Research Director, Base and Precious Metals, Wood MacKenzie
Mr. Arratia holds an MBA and a MSc. Eng. degree in Mineral Processing Engineering from the University of Montana School of Mines in USA where he also had a faculty position. He is an honorary professor of the UNSA university in Arequipa, Peru.
He has more than 40 years of experience in the mining industry including trading of metals. He was member of the board of state mining companies, mill superintendent of copper and gold mining operations. Ruben has a profound knowledge of the Latin America mining and metallurgical industry. As part of the Wood Mackenzie research team, he periodically visits most of the Latin American mining and metallurgical operations to carry out operating benchmarking and competitive & risk analysis.
He was engaged in multiple consulting mining and metallurgical projects including technical advising on privatization processes and valuation of mining operations. He was part of the consulting team that helped successfully the Ecuadorian government to optimize its mining investment policy and promote mining investment in Ecuador.
