Juan Carlos Guajardo
Executive Director, Plusmining
Juan Carlos Guajardo is the Founder and Executive Director of Plusmining since 2015. From 2006 to 2014 was Executive Director of the Center for Copper and Mining Studies (CESCO), a think tank specialized in public policies on mining. Previously, he was Head of the Research Department of the Chilean Copper Commission (Cochilco), an advisory body of the government in economic and mining matters. Mr. Guajardo previously worked as an economist at the International Copper Study Group (ICSG), an intergovernmental body based in Lisbon, Portugal.
Mr. Guajardo holds a PhD in International Economics and Development from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain.
Best graduated of Business Administrator at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Holds a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in Economics from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain and the International Advanced Mining and Environmental Program, University of Luleä, Sweden.
Juan Carlos Guajardo maintains a permanent presence in the national and international media on mining matters.
Member of the Copper Price Expert Committee convened annually by the Ministry of Finance to determine the parameters for Chile’s national budget since 2004.
Member of the PDAC International Affairs Committee, Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, since December 2016.
