Gaspar Frontini
European Union Ambassador for Peru
Gaspar Frontini is currently Ambassador of the European Union in Peru. He has a long and distinguished career in the European Commission, in the field of international relations, politics and economics.
Previously, he was Head of Unit for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Policy and Coherence at the Directorate General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Commission (DEVCO). In this role, he notably coordinated negotiations for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) leading to the adoption of the 2030 agenda in 2015.
Previously, he held several other positions at the European Commission, including Directorate General for Trade (DG Trade), where he was successively Chief Economist and Head of the Trade Relations Unit with Latin America. In this last position, he was notably the Chief Negotiator of the Free Trade Agreements with Colombia and Peru.
He is a graduate of the Institut de Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris and holds a PhD
in Economics from the Fondation Nationale de Sciences Politiques, also located in Paris.
