Tomás Cabanillas

Tomas Cabanillas is a seasoned and trilingual International Business Development professional focused on strategy, commercial diplomacy and private-public alliances in support of the Canadian mining industry. He currently leads a team based at Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) responsible for executing Canada’s Promotion and Export Strategy for the mining sector. His Team is also responsible for Canada's Mining Sector Relations across Latin America.

Prior to joining NRCAN, Mr. Cabanillas spent 12 years at Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada’s Export Credit Agency, where he held several industry and geographic Business Development positions including the Mining, Light Manufacturing, Life Sciences and Mexico Teams. He was also responsible for implementing and leading a Market Intelligence & Foresight system across EDC’s Business Development Group aimed at identifying and analyzing transformational trends and their impact on Canada's trade potential . Mr. Cabanillas professional experience also includes roles with Global Affairs Canada, Service Canada and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade of Argentina.
