Abraham Chahuan is a Metallurgical Engineer by profession, graduated from the San Agustín National University of Arequipa. He has a Master's degree in Metallurgy from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and is a graduate of the Senior Management program at the University of Piura. He also has doctoral studies in Administration, Finance and International Business from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia.
Abraham Chahuan began his professional career at Southern Peru Copper Corporation, he is currently Director of South American Operations at Glencore since 2020. From 2010 to 2020 he was President and General Manager of Compañía Minera Antamina. With more than 30 years of experience in the sector, he served as General Manager of Compañía Minera Milpo for 9 years and was President and General Manager of Empresa Siderúrgica del Perú for 6 years.
In 2012, he was named as the best executive of the year by Latin Finance magazine and as one of the three best Peruvian executives by Harvard Business Review. He has been Director of the Institute of Mining Engineers for three terms. In 2013, he was president of version 31 of PERUMIN, and president of the Mining sector of the National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy in the period 2013-2014. He is currently president of the Institute of Mining Engineers of Peru for the period 2022-2024.
